Wednesday October 19th 2016

This morning students wrote "Sign and return Rooney and Punyi permission form" in their agendas. In case the permission form did not make its way home, you can find another copy on my permission forms page.

Grade 2's left to go to the gym with Mme Harding. 

Grade 1's were tested on sight words. This morning we also continued to learn about the color wheel-primary colors and secondary colors, using water and food dye. The class also listened to a story about a little yellow paint blob and little blue paint blob and their adventure together.

When the grade 2's returned we completed our morning message, and went through our calendar. Following this, Grade 2's were asked to draw their halloween costume, which they will label and write about tomorrow. Grade 1's wrote using their new halloween page, following the model: # object color. They also had to draw the corresponding image to what they wrote.

After snack one of our grade 1 students shared an awesome sight words bingo game. We will play it tomorrow.

The class learnt about 10 grids, and how to use them. Following this, the grade 1's completed their number of the day book (12) grade 2's continued working in their math book, reviewing numbers.

In religion, we learnt about the story of when Jesus blessed the children. We especially talked about how Jesus accepts all of us, and wants us to be a part of his house.

This afternoon, we read to self/to a partner. We then created an I chart for writers workshop. We reviewed what awesome writers do (write quietly, write the whole time, stay in one spot, write alone, make sure it makes sense and work on stamina), we also created a sense of urgency by talking about why we write....  The class then practiced writing.

We ended our day in Music with Mme Dominique.
