Friday May 5th 2017
Happy pajama Friday everyone! This morning students wrote: "Enjoy the warm weather!" in their agenda's.
We completed a round of French Daily 5, then each student was given time to present their stuffy in French. We decoded the morning message (which talked about the possible storm tonight) and then went through our calendar document.
We read a book about Saskatchewan, then the Grade 2's wrote a reflection about what they would like to learn about Saskatoon in their journals. Grade 1's observed, identified and solved a problem with our growing tomato plants-the roots were coming out from the bottom, and so we need to give them more SPACE and re-pot them... How? Put soil inside of a new pot, add current plant, fill the spaces, water.
After little recess and snack, we practiced a base ten blocs number recognition game, then the grade 1's went off and identified all of the different possibilities to make a number, while the grade 2's continued to practice adding groups of 10 using a 100 grid (43+35 is, 43, 53, 63, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78).
In religion, we learned about the story of Zacchaeus, and how Jesus taught us to show kindness even when it is hard to do so, as that kindness may help someone to change for the better.
After lunch, big recess and daily 5, the class worked on their super top secret mother's day gift, and then they went out for a few minutes to enjoy the beautiful sun.
