Our message is 'Check out hand-outs'. This morning, your child received two hand-outs. One is to explain our upcoming social studies project, and the other is a video consent form that needs to be signed.
Today students took the challenging book that they were working on on Wednesday, and highlighted all of the words that they could read. We then practiced buddy reading. After they were finished we talked about how good readers ask questions about what is going on in the book to better understand. Students took turns being the teacher and asking teacher questions about what is going on in the book.
After recess we wrapped up our Math unit with a math evaluation on measurement. We then launched our next unit: addition and subtraction of numbers up to 20 by creating counting beads.
We finished off our mid-day learning about soil, what is in soil and how we know if soil is good for our garden.
Students had the opportunity to go outside and get their hands dirty pulling worms out of our worm compost. The soil was then added to the garden. They then returned to class, washed their hands and worked on a seed created flower mosaic! They were also tested on sight words!
BUSY BUSY!!
Enjoy your weekend!
