This morning students wrote: "Check out my new reading log." in their agendas.
We had a good chat as a class about the reading log and how to fill it out. Students were quite excited about getting started!
First thing today we headed over to Mme Miller's kindergarten class to read with the little ones. Grade 1's and 2's really enjoyed it.
Once back in the classroom we completed our morning message, and we were lead through calendar time by one of our grade 2 students.
Students continued to find sounds in their book for our class play.
In gym, the class had fun practicing a variety of dribbling games.
After little recess and snack, students continued to learn about measurement. Grade 2's practiced measuring using a single copy of a unit, grade 1's practiced measuring length and distance.
Students got books from the library.
After lunch and big recess, we counted our French speaking bâtons, and everyone earned a prize. Then we had a chat about speaking French. We discussed stealing bâtons as a strategy, and that we would now do it only once a week. On "stealing bâton" days, students must first encourage the friend they wish to steal from to try their sentence again in French. This should develop a sense of mutual encouragement and help.
We completed a round of Daily 5, then using the Chromebooks, the class was able to explore the website: "PebbleGO" I also added the website :Britannica School, which is also a great search engine. This website will aid us when we begin our non-fiction unit in English.
