This morning students wrote: "100th day activities tomorrow" in their agendas. The Shrove Tuesday (Pancakes) permission form was also sent home... In case it did not make it home, you can find an additional copy on the permission forms page of my website.

While the grade 2's were away for gym, Grade 1 students were tested on sight words, and learned about their responsibilities in our community. Students explored ways that people help one another at home, at school and in groups to ensure the vitality of our community. Students determined what makes our community thrive by exploring and reflecting upon the ways that our actions and decisions contribute to the well-being of our community, and how caring for the natural environment contributes to the well being of our community. Tomorrow or Thursday we will be using Seesaw and our community pictures to show our understanding of our influence/responsibilities in the community.

When the grade 2's returned, we decoded and read our morning message, we were lead through the calendar document by a grade 1 student.

We read a 100th day themed book and had a good discussion about the 100th day; I reminded students that they have the choice to dress like they're 100 years old or not. They must bring a large quantity of a small snack for our 100th day snack, and they must bring their 100th day posters.

In French, grade 1's continued the French writing they began yesterday, while the grade 2's continued to do research on Iqualuit. They were prompted to answer the following questions: "What language do the people in Iqualuit speak?" "What kind of animals live in Iqualuit" "What kinds of activities do the people in Iqualuit do?" "What kind of clothing do the people in Iqualuit need to wear?"

After little recess and snack, the class completed a round of French Daily 5. (Due to time conflicts with the water bin, we did not do boats and buoyancy today, we will tomorrow!) Then the Grade 2 students completed a math word problem evaluation. During this time, grade 1 students practiced some additional word problems, and practiced their numbers up to 100 with a 100 grid (filled a 100 grid, and made their own snakes and ladders game).

In religion, we revisited what the golden rule is, and that God calls us to love one another. We also learned that love is not selfish.

This afternoon, we completed a round of Daily 5, followed by our afternoon message. In English, students were asked to write about love... They were given the start: Love is... and were asked to continue and elaborate.

Students ended their day in Music with Mme Dominique.
