HAPPY 100th DAY OF SCHOOL!!!

Please check out Seesaw for some fun 100th day videos and pictures:)

This morning students wrote: "Early dismissal tomorrow" in their agendas. Please remember to come and join us tonight for our art fair/open house (6:30-8pm)

Our goal today was to read 100 books (we only got to 75 as we ran out of time); so students completed a round of Daily 5. Then we read our morning message like 100 year old grannies and grampies would. We completed the calendar document together as a class.

We read a fun 100th day book, and then we made some 100th day hats; using 10 small strips of paper to draw 10 different things on each strip, which means that when you count each strip you'll count by 10, making a total of 100 things!!! Hopefully this makes more sense when you receive the crown....

We prepared our 100th day snack placemat before going out to recess. After little recess, students filled their 100th day placemat (10 groups) with 10 different snacks each (check out Seesaw for a picture).

Students were given a boats and buoyancy challenge. They were asked to make a boat using a 12" by 12" piece of aluminium foil. They were challenged to shape the aluminium foil so that it could hold 100 pennies. (Come to Mme Pamela's classroom at the open house tonight, as she will have this challenge for you to try!)

We read a 100 themed snowman book.

Students did a museum walk to see the 100th day posters (come check them out tonight). A few students had the chance to present them, we will continue tomorrow.

After lunch and big recess, students were given 100th day booklets, that asked them questions like: "what would you do on your 100th birthday?" etc. Their answers were very funny! Again, come check them out! They will be posted in our bootroom!

Students enjoyed 100th day exercises in the gym with Mme Harding.

Of course, to end our day with a BANG (literally), students were able to play and use balloons to make groups of 10. We started off by counting the balloons by 1's, 2's and then we distributed them in groups of 10. Finally, I think that the best part of the balloons was the part where we got to POP them!!!!

I hope that your child had an AWESOME 100th day, as I know I did.

Thank you to our two parents for blowing up our 100 balloons, and thanks to all parents for participating with sending in snacks for our 100th snack and sending in 100 collection posters. Without you, today certainly would not have been possible!
