Sorry for the late daily update!

This morning students wrote: "Scholastic book orders due tomorrow." in their agendas. Your child brought home a new Reading log today, an e-mail explaining the goal of the log was sent home.

First thing today, students completed a round of French Daily 5, followed by a morning message, and calendar time (led by a grade 1).

Grade 2's were able to use the websites on my EMP Etudes Sociales webpage  to answer some of the questions they asked on Monday about Iqualuit. Tomorrow, I will give the students 4 questions to answer, to give them a more guided and specific search. During this time, grade 1's did some fun writing about their mom and dad and what their parents would wear out on a valentines night.

Students enjoyed some valentines day, and curling themed games in the gym.

After little recess, and snack, the class participated to our first building challenge. Rather than having the grade 2's do a boats and buoyancy activity, I had them participate to the grade 1 building challenge, in order to get them to understand that I would no longer be giving students guided help (in building their boats). Both grade 1 and 2 learning will be hands on; trial and error and discovery based.  Today our challenge was cat in the hat themed (check it out on Seesaw to have a good idea of the fun we had). This was a good start for the grade 2's to begin to think independently/problem solve. Either tomorrow or Thursday we will be doing a boats challenge.

Students exchanged their library books.

This afternoon, we completed a round of daily 5, students made some very nice valentines, we exchanged valentines, and finally, we had a delicious valentine's day themed snack (THANK YOU to our parents who took the time to prepare the extra snacks!) while watching a Winnie the Pooh valentines day episode.
