Tuesday December 13th 2016

This morning students wrote: "Sign and return permission form." in their agendas. Your child received a permission form for our concert rehearsal on Tuesday December 20th. It is important that it is returned to me as soon as possible. I will be accompanying the grade 2's to the rehearsal, grade 1's will be accompanied by 1 parent and the other grade 1 teachers. Your child also received an ATB financial bank application slip, check it out!

First thing today, while the grade 1's were away for music, grade 2's worked on recognizing and describing characteristics of liquids: (liquid flow/shape of drops/surface of calm water). We also learned about artificial tension (what makes water create a dome when you place it on a penny). Grade 2's also compared water with other liquids, such as cooking oil and liquid detergent. We specifically looked for characteristics such as the shape of the drop, and the ease of flow.

When the grade 1's returned, the class completed our morning message and calendar time. We then read a Christmas themed story.

In gym, students selected their favorite games which we played.

After our indoor recess and snack, the class completed French daily 5! I am very impressed with the French writing that some students are producing! BRAVO les amis!

Grade 2's were tested on last week's spelling words, and were pre-tested on this week's spelling (the words focus on the soft g rule). During this time, grade 1's completed a French reading comprehension activity.

We had time to practice our "name the number than is one more/two more".

Students exchanged their books at the library.

This afternoon, once the class had completed their round of Daily 5, we wrote our letters to Santa, using e-mail Santa.com (link on my ENGLISH tab on my website). Letters have been printed, and will be sent home tomorrow! If you would like a digital copy, please let me know!
