Grade 1's were tested on sight words
This morning grade 2's left for gym with Mme Harding's sub, grade 1's were launched into their new science unit: The Five Senses... I had the class sit, and try to discover what was hidden under my blanket (a popcorn machine), by using only their five senses. Of course, once the popcorn popped, everyone knew! The last sense they used was their sense of taste... mmmm delicious! We then talked about who controls our senses (the brain) and how the brain is connected to our senses (nerves).
When the grade 2's returned, they also enjoyed some popcorn. We then went through our calendar.
Grade 2's were asked to finish building their isolant. Grade 1's were asked to describe their friend orally. Grade 1's then presented their description to the class, and grade 2's presented, and explained their isolant.
After small recess, grade 2's were asked to do their spelling work (we reviewed what writing complete sentences looks like). Grade 1's learned about the meaning of equal.
Grade 2's then began to learn about Meteghan. We talked about all the things that we would need to know before we travel to Meteghan, where we would look up this information.
The class began to learn the story of Moses and the Israelites.
This afternoon the class participated to Daily 5 followed by the afternoon message.
Following this we had a class discussion about goal setting, what it is, what it looks like, how to set goals. We cleaned up the classroom very well.
The class ended their day in music with Mme Dominique.
