This morning students wrote "Opening celebration at 2 tomorrow" in their agendas. Please join us for the assembly in the gym. *PLEASE NOTE* Grade 1's were sent home with color flashcards-please check out the video with me saying them on the Français page . Remember to practice them at home! This will facilitate their understanding in the classroom.

Following this, we completed our calendar time, and wished a happy birthday to one of our Grade 1 students.

Afterwards, we added the final vowels to our French vowel family: O and U! Ask your child what funny sound U makes...

Students completed a cut and paste activity using school vocabulary words and our word of the week: "voilà".

The class enjoyed practicing the recess agreement outside during recess.

Once back in the classroom, we read the book "Have you filled a bucket today?"-which resembled the book: "How full is your bucket?" which I read yesterday. We discussed if we filled buckets at recess. Then students presented 5 of our recess agreement posters...

In mathematics, students completed a small assessment. Grade 1's made an ABC, AABC, and a pattern that had to have the same code as red, black, black, green. Grade 2's needed to continue patterns that had attributes.

We then moved along in our printing books, with the letter n.

This afternoon we reviewed the I PICK acronym for picking good fit books that was taught yesterday. Students then showed me their picking skills, and completed a round of read to self.

Following this, we read a message about vowels, and we listened to a song about how vowels are the "glue that make words stick together" check out the vowel song !

I then launched Writers workshop. This allowed Grade 2's to revisit the expectations from last year, and the grade 1's to learn what writers workshop is all about. In this session, students learned to think of a topic, sketch it, and write about it! I loved reading some of the stories!

We ended our day with a "privacy pirates" game, an online game which touched on digital safety.
