This morning students wrote "Parent partnership tonight at 7." in their agendas. Please join us to find out more about Grade 1 and 2!
Students added a dictionary page containing numbers; this will help them add details to their French writing. The class completed a writing activity. Grade 1's followed a specific model. Grade 2's were encouraged to use what they remembered from Grade 1 to write.
Following this, we went to the gym and had fun playing a variety of tag games.
After recess we read the book: "How full is your bucket?" and talked about filling each other's buckets-making others feel good by using kindness, and following directions. We related this to recess, and transitioned to talking about filling other people's buckets at recess. Finally, the class completed a drawing of what filling a bucket looks like at recess activity. They will present their drawing throughout the week.
We then worked on the bounce letter: r in our printing books.
This afternoon students learnt the I P I C K acronym for picking good fit books.
I choose a book (look at the inside and outside-choose my level)
P urpose (why am I reading this book?)
I nterest (does it interest me?)
C omprehend (do I understand what I am reading?)
K now (do I know most of the words?)
Please encourage your child to practice picking good-fit books-when they're at the library or at school.
We then completed a round of read to self.
Afterwards, Grade 2's did some writers workshop, practicing good and quiet writing habits from Grade 1.
Grade 1's learnt to use L-Conin (sound out) cards. And then used their newfound knowledge to write: I can see ________ (word they choose and sound out) in their writers books.
To end our day, the class learnt what it means to be a good digital citizen, how to show digital etiquette and practice digital safety.
