Monday September 12th 2016
This morning, students wrote: "Check out Scholastic magazine." Inside of your child's agenda pocket you should find a scholastic magazine! Feel free to browse through it, book orders are due on September 21st.
Today we had our first Monday morning assembly! The class showed patience, and tolerance! I was very impressed.
Once we returned to class, we completed our agenda messages and unfinished work.
Following this, we had calendar time, the new word: voilà was introduced.
We had a little bit of extra time to complete the letter g in our printing book.
After small recess, Grade 2's continued to practice making patterns with more than one attribute. Grade 1's also practiced patterns-however with more than one code.
Students enjoyed music with Mme Dominique.
This afternoon, Grade 1's enjoyed gym with Mme Harting and 1A.
Grade 2's began to learn about our Hot and Cold science unit-what is hot? What does it mean? What is cold? What does it mean?
Once the Grade 1's had rejoined us in the classroom, we completed a round of Daily 5. We then began to learn about picking Good fit books. The lesson started off by reading the book: Pete the cat, I love my white shoes. We talked about how we all like shoes, and usually, the color doesn't matter. Then we moved into: books are like shoes, and just like shoes, not all books are a good fit, and not all books are appropriate for readers. The class then learnt that when picking books, it is important that we grab the right level, and we look at the outside and inside the book before reading. We will continue this tomorrow.
We completed our fish art lesson from Friday by adding details (Gils, fins and tails). Check them out on our bulletin board!
