This morning students wrote: "Pattern snack is tomorrow" in their agendas. Please remember to pack your child with lots of small snacks that they can use to make a pattern (rainbow fishy crackers, skittles, fruit loops, cheerios, grapes, cheese slices etc.) Your child was also sent home with the QSP magazine fundraiser, their "primary color fish" and their "first day of Grade One / Two" picture (which has a magnet on the back for your fridge)!

Grade 2's left first bloc for gym. During which time grade 1's did some modeled writing about objects they can find in a classroom. They followed the writing pattern: #, object, color.

When Grade 2's returned we completed our morning message, finding our French combos, and we had our calendar time. After this, the class finally finished their cut and paste books. These will be read and sent home tomorrow.

Shortly after small recess Grade 2's learned about increasing patterns, they completed a worksheet, and we discussed that all increasing patterns have a rule-which they attempted to find.

During this time Grade 1's completed a booklet about primary colors and secondary colors. They were also able to mix primary colored play dough to get some hands on experience for secondary colors.

We read a funny book titled "The Cat, the Dog, Little Red, the Exploding Eggs, the Wolf, and Grandma". Then we continued our flagpole letters with the letter k.

In Social Studies we began to speak about our community: St. Albert. We brainstormed the location and wrote in our Social Studies booklets.

Following this, the class went outside for an "extra recess" as their prize for speaking French.

This afternoon, we had a class discussion about putting the leveled books back in their bins, without wrecking them. Each students was assigned a bin, and they needed to ensure that all of the books were facing pages out, and spine towards you. Once our problem was fixed, we read to self.

We then read our afternoon message about cleaning the classroom after lunch.

Writers workshop's mini lesson today was about "using my tools the RIGHT way" (not smelling your Mr Sketch, not throwing your pencils everywhere, not building light sabers with your markers, etc.)

Students ended their day in Music with Mme Dominique.
