This morning Grade 1 students wrote: "Practice counting backwards from 20-0." in their agenda's. The ability of counting backwards will help your child with subtraction later in the month, when we begin addition and subtraction of numbers up to 20! Yippee!

While the grade 1 students were finishing their agenda message, getting tested on their sight words and learning about transparent and opaque colors, Grade 2 students had fun in gym with Mme Harding's substitute.

When the grade 2's returned, they wrote: "Practice skip counting by 2's, 5's and 10's up to 100 in French." in their agenda's. Please practice skip counting as of different numbers-not just from 0. You may also wish to ask which numbers are odd (impair) and which are even (pair).

Once both our grade 1 and 2 friends were back together again, we completed our morning message, and calendar time.

Grade 2's then moved into finishing their halloween costume plan, and began to transfer their writing onto a good piece of paper. They will continue to do this tomorrow.

Grade 1's re-read their little witch book-this was brought home!! They read wonderfully. Grade 1's then listened to a story about all the things a little boy saw in a haunted house that did not scare him, until, finally something did! Your child then began to write their own page that would fit in the book.

After little recess, the class did a quiet round of read to self.

In mathematics, grade 1's completed the number of the day (19) and then practiced saying the number that is one more, one less, two more and two less from a given number. We also practiced counting numbers backwards as of varying numbers.

Grade 2's continued practicing skip counting as well as odd and even numbers.

In Social Studies, grade 2's continued to work on their mapping skills. Grade 1's began to talk about the groups they belong to, they also started to draw these groups as well!

This afternoon, we completed a round of read to self, we then jumped into our afternoon message, where each student became my teacher, and had to show me the sounds, and why it was a sound. They also had to show me what two vowels go walking and magic e's were.

We did some writers workshop, our mini-lesson today was SPACES... pretty amazing how no spaces can make reading very tough.

The class ended their day in music with Mme Dominique.
