This morning your child wrote: "Bring a loonie for a poppy." in his/her agenda.
We definitely did go off the "week at a glance" schedule today, as the grade 2's were in need of some review for skip counting.
While the grade 2's were away for gym, grade 1's reviewed what they had learned about groups, specifically what identifies a group (A flag, jersey etc.). We then began to learn about needs and wants as well as about rights and responsibilities. Students were asked to explain what our rights are as humans, and what responsibility we have with that right. It ended up being a very interesting conversation!
When the grade 2's returned, we went through our regular calendar time.
Following this, we read a book about monsters, and we were interrupted by a surprise fire drill. The class did very well.
Once back in the classroom, grade 1's began to label the parts of the little people they made, grade 2's started to work on their monster writing.
After small recess, the grade 1's worked on their poppy art project.
Grade 2's played a fun skip counting game, followed by a skip counting evaluation.
This afternoon we read to self, read to partner, and then learned how to listen to a story.
The class ended their day in Music with Mme Dominique.
