This morning students wrote: "Ask me about mental health." in their agendas.

After writing in their agenda, grade 1's were split into two groups of 5 and went off into either Mme Pamela or Mme Ruel's classroom till lunch time. There, they were tested on their sight words, did some read to self, and then completed calendar time. Throughout the morning, grade 1's enjoyed an extra gym block with Mme Harding, they enjoyed meeting Theodore; Mme Ruel's rabbit, and learning about animal adaptations as well as the differences between a domestic (animal under human care) and wild (independent of human care) rabbit. They had fun with going outside and drawing all the living and non-living things and finally, practicing the doubles +1/-1 math strategy.

While the grade 1's were busy learning all of these fantastic things, grade 2's participated to the Holy Childhood Association Mass in Milwoods-it was very cool to be a part of this awesome project of "Children Helping Children". Part of the proceeds raised will go to children in Bangladesh and Kenya.

After big recess and lunch the class completed a round of Daily 5, and then we learned about Mental Health. We started by defining the word health (taking care of yourself by eating well, doing exercise etc.) then we talked about the word mental (things in your mind, in your brain). Then we talked about what mental health can be... and how to make sure you have good mental health. We came to the conclusion that good mental health means, to talk to someone (an adult) especially when you are feeling sad, or angry or anxious etc. We reviewed that you can't tell just by looking at someone what they are feeling inside. We will take time tomorrow to discuss ways to make sure that our classmates can have good mental health (invite friends to play with you, being respectful etc.).

Students ended their day in music with Mme Dominique.
