This morning students wrote: "Read a French book tonight" in their agenda
The grade 2's had gym first thing this morning, so the grade 1's were tested on sight words, and finished their personal timelines.
When the grade 2's returned, we completed a round of French Daily 5, decoded the morning message and completed calendar time.
After little recess and snack, grade 1's finished writing about the barn scenery that they had started writing about on Monday, while the grade 2's learned about the Ukrainian settlers in Saskatoon. They specifically learned that when the Ukrainian settlers arrived, they were required to learn to speak English, as this was the common language in the community.
In mathematics, grade 1's practiced solving word problems, while grade 2's continued to work on using a number line to solve a subtraction... For example, 75-39.... 75, 65, 55, 45, 44, 43, 42, 41, 40, 39, 38, 37, 36
After lunch and big recess, we began a round of Daily 5, but were interrupted by the St. Albert Publice Library presentation about their summer reading program titled: "The Great Canadian Race" Then when we returned to class we finished our round of Daily 5, cleaned up the classroom, read a chapter of the book: "Wayside School is Falling Down" and then students ended their day in Music with Mme Dominique.
