This morning students wrote: "Work on my reading log tonight" in their agendas. From what I've heard, everyone should be on track for earning ice cream and the park!

While the grade 2's enjoyed gym with Mme Harding, grade 1's continued to learn about the history of St. Albert. We learned that "The earliest settlers in St. Albert were largely comprised of Métis from Lac Ste. Anne who followed Father Lacombe to the new mission after its founding in 1861. The St. Albert Métis constructed the first buildings in St. Albert, and their work as hunters, freighters, guides, and general labourers were indispensable to the mission's early development." (http://www.history.alberta.ca/fatherlacombe/history/history.aspx) which explains why St. Albert is largely compromised of French, because the Métis (les Francophones) spoke French as well as Cree. Grade 1's added this to their "St. Albert's history" booklet.

When the grade 2's returned, we decoded and read our morning message, then we were lead through our calendar time by a grade 2 student. We practiced our numbers from 50-80, and then grade 2's continued to work on writing their story, while grade 1's wrote the ending (collectively) to one of my spring-themed stories, before starting to write their own.

After little recess and snack, the class completed a round of French Daily 5.

As noted in the week at a glance grade 2's completed their math measurement evaluation with measurement stations, everyone did great! During this time, grade 1's played a doubles +1/-1 game, and adding +10 game.

In religion, we learned what it means "I am the vine, you are the branches" parable.

After lunch, big recess and daily 5, the class added to their non-fiction stories.

We ended our day in music with Mme Dominique.
