This morning students wrote: "Read a book with mom or dad." if your child is already a reader, please encourage to practice! If your child is not yet a reader, encourage them to read the pictures... and see if they can find the corresponding word in the book!

After completing our agenda, grade 1 and 2 students worked through calendar, and we practiced our read the pictures strategy. Following this, Grade 2 students completed a "Je me présente" (This is me) activity. Grade 1's practiced their classroom vocabulary words with using the introductory word "Voici" they then did some writing.

Upon their return from little recess, four more students presented their HRTS posters that they created on Friday.

We then began to learn about patterns. Grade 1's learnt that all patterns have a secret code, and they practiced discovering it. Grade 2's learnt that patterns can have similarities, but different attributes (the trains LOOK the same, but the color is different).

We then went outside and had fun with a wiggle and jiggle name game.

This afternoon, we learnt the third way to read a book: "Retell the story". Using the same book we read Friday, the class retold the story to me! We then reviewed what read to self is. We then created a chart with the 5 most important behaviors when reading to self: 1) read quietly 2) read the whole time 3) stay in one spot 4) Get started right away 5) Build stamina. We then practiced the good behavior, followed by the bad, and the good again.

To end our day, we began to complete our Digital Citizenship unit, learning the story of the Good Samaritan.
