This morning students wrote: "Please sign and return mass permission form." in their agendas. In case it did not find its way home, you can find a second copy on my Permission Forms page.
First thing today, your child participated to finding combo sounds, words of the week, and color words in our French morning message. They then listened to calendar time.
Using our classroom words "cut and paste" activity, your child read a friends, and their friend read theirs. Afterwards we played a game of "who can find it the fastest?" which resulted in some skittles being shared!
We then moved into a reading comprehension job, grade ones needed to read the words, and color the object the correct color. Grade two's completed the final page of their "Dans mon pupitre book"-tomorrow they will write their own for a friend to draw.
After small recess, we spent quite some time making our patterned snacks! Grade 1's made ABA, ABC, AABB, AABC patterns and grade 2 made varying patterns with attributes and growing patterns.
The long snack over, Grade 1 students discovered that you can make a light (pâle) color, by adding white. We mixed blue and white together and made varying shades. Grade 2's continued to practice making growing patterns. While I was doing my focus lessons with either group, they were expected to complete the letter j in their printing books.
Students enjoyed a few brain breaks, and listened to a story as a reward for their good behavior.
This afternoon we did read to self, and found combo sounds and words of the week in our afternoon message, which discussed proper voice level.
Students enjoyed gym with Mme Harding.
We ended our day with writers workshop. Our mini lesson was about overcoming the very common problem "I don't know what to write about". We read a book about an ant eater that was "Lost for words". We talked about how we could often have that problem, and we brainstormed things that we could always write about.
