Thursday November 3rd 2016
This morning your child wrote: "No school tomorrow." in his/her agenda.
Students read a French book quietly, following this we went through our morning message, and calendar time. Your child then learnt the new French combo sounds: ez and er which ONLY make the é sound if it is found at the end of the word.
The class listened to a French story about a little girl who wanted a monster. Grade 2's then began to draw their own monster, which they will then begin to describe and write about next week!
Grade 1's were evaluated on their pre-reading skills; they needed to read a given text, and draw what was asked.
After small recess, the grade 1's finished their reading evaluation, and then completed a second.
Grade 2's were evaluated on their spelling words. Afterwards, they were asked to finish their monster drawings.
Both grade 1's and 2's were evaluated on their ability to represent a number. Grade 1's were asked to represent their numbers in more than 2 given ways. Grade 2's were asked to represent a number by using base 10 blocks, they also needed to show if it was odd or even.
We then learned the story of Adam and Eve, and how God loved both Adam and Eve, even though they committed their sin.
This afternoon, we read to self, following this, your child was able to do some writing in their google classroom! They learnt how to create their document, and began to type! It was very cool, as a teacher, to watch such young children be focused on a writing job!
