Thursday April 13th 2017

This morning students wrote: "Have a happy Easter. We have mass and library Tuesday." in their agendas.

We completed a round of Daily 5, decoded our morning message, and then a grade 2 student led us through the calendar document. We practiced our numbers up to 100, skip counting by 2's today, and reviewed how counting by 2's has a +2 rule (2 (+2) 4 (+2) 6 (+2) 8 (+2) 10 (+2) etc.)

Grade 1 students then went to work and did some 5 senses spring themed writing, while the grade 2's wrote about what they know of Iqaluit's natural resources.

After little recess and snack, we practiced our play, then the grade 2's practiced estimating and measuring the distance around a variety of objects while the grade 1's learned about surface, and how to measure/compare different surfaces.

We did the stations of the cross at the school entrance, learning about the steps Jesus took to open the gates for us to Heaven.

After lunch and big recess (some grade 1's and 2's joined the board games club) we completed a round of Daily 5.

Students enjoyed gym with Mme Harding.

We ended our day with practicing and beginning to write our own non-fiction story.
