This morning students wrote: "Check out Scholastic magazine." in their agendas.

While the grade 2's were away for gym, grade 1 students were tested on their sight words, and began to learn about St. Albert's past. We started by talking about what we know about St. Albert-places, things to do. Students were then asked to think about whether or not St. Albert has always been this way, they of course answered no. We then learned about what was in St. Albert at the very beginning; The First Nations, who they are etc.

When the grade 2's returned, we read our morning message, and completed calendar time. We were then introduced to a new 100 grid carpet, which we used to practice placing numbers-and skip counting.

Then, the grade 1's did some spring themed writing-using their new dictionnary pages, while the grade 2's continued to learn about natural resources in Iqaluit, and how these select the kind of jobs the people there have.

After little recess and snack, we practiced our Jack and the Beanstalk play. Then the grade 1's showed off their knowledge about plants to the grade 2 friends, explaining what we did to make our seeds grow, then they did some writing.

Grade 2's learned that the world is actually a giant magnet, which has a north pole and a south pole, this is why compasses always point north.

In Religion, students learned about the washing of the feet and the last supper.

This afternoon, students completed a round of Daily 5, then they learned about the non-fiction genre, and began to plan their own writing.

Students ended their day in Music with Mme Dominique.
