This morning students wrote: "We have library tomorrow." in their agendas.
We participated to the assembly where Mme Schile shared a video called Colour Your World With Kindness with the school. She then challenged us to perform random acts of kindness throughout the week.
In the classroom, students completed a round of daily 5. We decoded our morning message, and a grade 2 students lead us through the calendar time.
We read a French Valentine's Day themed book, which led to the discussion about Valentine cards. The class was reminded that if they are bringing a valentine, they are required to bring enough for everyone. We also chatted about if someone does not bring a valentine...
Grade 1's completed a 5 senses evaluation, while the grade 2's learned about using the verbes "être & avoir" with the words "il/elle" (he/she).
After little recess, and snack (thank you to our grade 1 friend who brought a special birthday snack!!) Grade 1 students completed a math evaluation, while the grade 2's worked on spelling, followed by finding all of the combos in a French book.
We read another French Valentines day book.
Students enjoyed music with Mme Dominique
This afternoon, while the grade 1's were away for gym, grade 2's continued to learn about Iqualuit. As was mentioned in the week at a glance, students were encouraged to think of questions they may have about Iqualuit. They were asked to write the questions in their writers workshop books.
When the grade 1's returned, the class completed a round of Daily 5.
We re-watched the video Mme Schile showed us this morning, and then we talked about being a good friend. Students discussed that being a good friend means you listen to your friend, you look at them as they're talking, and you listen to them. We read the book: "Making friends is an art." Finally, we ended the lesson by saying: To make friends you need to be a good friend.
