This morning students wrote: "Practice Math stories tonight." any addition or subtraction story of numbers up to 12 (Grade 1) or 18 (Grade 2) is good... this is something that I hope you will continue to practice throughout Christmas break as well.
Today was a very disorganized day, with our rehearsals at the gym for either grade 1's or 2's, so my daily update will seem a little odd!
First thing this morning the class participated to our school assembly, where we wished a happy birthday to all of our December friends! Following this, we completed a French round of daily 5, our morning message (which explained to the students how the day would unfold as well as the expectations), and calendar. We ended our morning with a snack followed by little recess.
Once back in the classroom, we read a French Christmas themed book, patiently awaiting for the grade 1's to be called to the gym to rehearse. When the grade 1's left (for about 20 minutes) grade 2's learned about the Canadian flag/Alberta flag/Nova scotia and Acadian flag. We discussed, compared and explained each flag.
The class went to the library to listen to a Christmas story and exchange their books. Halfway through library grade 1's were called for the grand finale of the rehearsal, grade 2's continued exchanging books and reading to self.
Once library and the grand finale rehearsal (G.1) were complete, students had music with Mme Dominique's substitute.
After lunch and big recess, grade 1 students enjoyed gym outside with Mme Harding, while Grade 2's finished learning about the different flags in Social Studies. Following this, grade 2's were called to rehearse for their concert.
When the grade 1's and 2's returned we completed a round of daily 5... Grade 2's left for their grand concert finale, while the grade 1's continued to write the Christmas stories they began on Friday
