This morning students wrote: "We have library tomorrow." in their agendas.
We participated to the assembly this morning, where the Holy Childhood Foundation fundraising challenge was presented to the students. Remember to bring in some loose change, so that the class and all even number grades can earn an extra recess, and help other children in the world who are in need! Grade 1 and 2's were also invited to participate to a "board game club" which would happen on Thursday's at big recess.
When we returned to class, one of our grade 1 students announced that, sadly, over the summer she will be moving to Kingston Ontario. Then one of our grade 2 students then showed off some cool autographed FC Edmonton player cards in French!
Students completed a round of French Daily 5, we decoded our morning message, and one of our grade 1 students led us through calendar time. We did a read through our play, and added a few actions-it is becoming quite the production!
After little recess and snack, the grade 1 students learned about measuring and comparing length/distance with cars, while the grade 2's learned about using more than one object to effectively measure the distance around.
Students enjoyed music with Mme Dominique.
After lunch and big recess, the grade 1's had gym with Mme Harding while the grade 2's reviewed everything they knew about Iqaluit, then we began to learn about Iqaluit stories.
When the grade 1's returned, the class completed a round of Daily 5, then we began to learn about Holy Week. We talked about why Jesus went to Jerusalem (to celebrate the passover holiday), and how he was welcomed by a crowd of people who laid down their coats and palms.
