This morning students wrote: "Have a fantastic weekend!" in their agendas.
The class completed their round of French Daily 5, decoded and read the morning message followed by calendar time lead by a grade 2.
Then the grade 1's went off and did some French writing about the little person they made out of fruits and vegetables a few weeks ago, while the grade 2's began to plan and write a French story!
After recess and snack grade 1's continued to practice measuring weight with scales, they were challenged with finding objects that weighed more/less/equal to a book. The grade 2's continued to learn about magnets, we tested a large variety of magnets comparing and measuring the strength of magnets. We learned about big magnets in junk yards.
The class practiced their paint blending skills, by making a gradient light to dark ocean background (they needed to gradually add white or black to blue/pink this was not an easy task). Then they were able to have fun practicing their paint splattering skills with a toothbrush and slightly watered down white paint.
We allowed our backgrounds to draw over lunch, recess and daily 5. Then, the class practiced drawing jellyfish on scrap paper, before doing so on their background (they learned to draw a half circle with a squiggly line connecting the half, and tentacles coming our of said squiggly line). Afterwards they added some seaweed. The final step was to color in the jellyfish to give it form.
Come check out our awesome art projects!
We ended our day with Daily Physical Activity outside.
