This morning students wrote: "Please check your e-mail tonight." in their agendas. The corresponding e-mail has been sent.
While the grade 2's were away for gym, grade 1's were tested on their sight words, and learned about other communities in Alberta. We discussed how the people who live in those communities may be different than us, and how we need to value and respect them. Then, we checked out where each of those communities is found on a map, and how their location may be what affects what they do. Finally, students explored each-others maps that they made last week.
When the grade 2's returned, we decoded our morning mystery message, and students guessed what the secret object that was described was. One of our grade 1 students lead us through calendar time. We re-read "La Chenille qui fait des trous." and grade 1's worked on finishing their little booklet. Grade 2's worked on finishing writing their own mystery message. Both of these will be hung in our bootroom for you to enjoy!
After little recess and snack, we completed a round of French Daily 5. Then both the grade 1's and 2's finished their French work they started in the morning.
In mathematics, the class continued to learn about using non-standard units of measure. Students learned how to measure if they only have a single unit (one eraser to measure a big book). We learned that you can make lines, and then place the unit where the line was set.
We watched a portion of Balto.
After little recess and lunch, we watched the remainder of the movie, and enjoyed some popcorn!
Students ended their day in Music with Mme Dominique.
