Wednesday March 1st 2017
Students had Mme Simpatico today, as I was away for a training session.
This morning students wrote: "Scholastic book orders due tomorrow" in their agenda
While the grade two's were away for gym, grade 1's were tested on sight words, and learning about two different kinds of communities: urban and rural. They looked at different pictures, and identified some differences between rural and urban communities. They identified St. Albert as an urban community. And then the class discussed how living in either of these communities would be the same or different.
When the grade 2's returned, the class completed calendar time, after this, they continued to work on writing detailed sentences, and learning how to correctly use their new dictionary page.
After little recess and snack, students completed a round of French daily 5.
Then the grade 2's began their measurement unit, they were asked to select two different objects and compare them (by weight, length etc.) then they were asked to use a calendar to respond to specific "which day of the week did this happen" questions.
Grade 1's practiced their numbers to 100 by playing snakes and ladders.
In Sciences, grade 2's were given time to continue working on their boats, the grade 1's were given their new challenge: build something that can catch a sneaky and tiny leprechaun! They were asked to plan their traps before building them.
This afternoon, the grade 1 and 2's participated to our school's Ash Wednesday celebration.
They ended their day in Music with Mme Dominique.
