Happy Groundhogs day!

This morning Grade 1 students wrote: "Read a French book to mom or dad." in their agendas and Grade 2 students wrote: "Check out addition and subtraction practice book" in their agendas (This can stay home, and you may choose to use this as nightly math practice).

Since yesterday's use of Seesaw went so well, today, I decided that we would do a little bit of a more spontaneous French speaking activities. Students were asked to write out a set of questions for their partner. Questions that would allow us to get to know the person better. The questions were asked, and the student needed to quickly understand and respond to the question. JUST LIKE a regular interview! This was very fun to watch :)

Students enjoyed a safer recess because there has been a schedule created for sliding down the hill during recess (due to the icy-ness of the hill, and older students crashing into younger students). Grade 1, 2, 3 students were allowed to slide down during little recess today and not during big recess, tomorrow, Grades 1,2,3 will be allowed to slide down the hill during big recess and not little recess.

The class enjoyed their snack.... Then the grade 2's were tested on last weeks spelling words, and were given this weeks words: noise, choice, avoid, voice, point (focus on the oi/oy combo sound). During this time, grade 1 students worked on their Social Studies circles (all the things I belong to) project.

Grade 2's were then introduced to their final liquids project (e-mail was sent about this yesterday). I spoke to them about the expectations, requirements, and reminded them that this was not mom/dad/grandma/grandpa project, but rather their project that mom and dad can help with.

In mathematics, students enjoyed practicing the make ten strategy.

As we continue in our journey of becoming closer to God, students learned about when Jesus helped the sick.

This afternoon, we completed a long round of daily 5, afterwards the class enjoyed the Rocks and Rings program in the gym.

Once back in the classroom students continued to learn about using juicy words to describe things. Today, students were asked to write and describe their favorite stuffy. They were then encouraged to bring their stuffy to school tomorrow, where we will read everyone's writing, and guess who's stuffy belongs to who's writing.
