This morning our grade 1 students wrote: "Ask me about addition." in their agendas. Grade 2's wrote: "Ask me about Meteghan's past" in their agendas.

Grade 2's left first thing in the morning for gym with Mme Harding, grade 1's were tested on sight words, and learned about their senses. We started by re-visiting all of our senses, their uses, and which sense is most useful in which situation (what is mom cooking for dinner? There is a fire etc) we then placed focus on the sense of sight, and students were asked to describe ways that people adapt to limited sensory abilities e.g. inability to see objects at close range (we talked about glasses, magnifying glasses, microscopes) we then talked about why we may need to use objects to help us see better in cases other than loss of sight. Students were able to use magnifying glasses to discover different things that maybe aren't noticeable to the naked eye. We also began to describe ways to take care of our eyes.

When the grade 2's returned, they finished in their agendas, and joined the grade 1's in decoding our French morning message. This then transitioned into our calendar document.

Afterwards, grade 1's were asked to construct a variety of French sentences following a model to express an action that a friend could be doing... e.g:_______ name He/She is action with different name in place.

I read a dinosaur describing French book to the grade 2's, which helped give them ideas for how to better describe their own dinosaur. The grade 2's were asked to begin writing and describing their own dinosaurs.

After our inside recess and snack, the class did 15 minutes of French read to self/listen to a story/read to a partner/writers workshop (grade 2's).

Grade 1's continued to learn about different combinations of amounts that can add up to the same number, they then learned about the word: addition, and how it means, plus, or the action or process of adding two numbers which results in a larger sum. They were able to use unifix cubes to create different additions. Tomorrow they will learn about addition stories.

During the grade 1 focus lesson, grade 2's did their spelling work (writing the spelling words correctly twice), afterwards they finished their math evaluation, they then did some addition work in a math booklet, afterwards, they were rewarded with free time (as long as it was quiet).

When the grade 1's were working on their Math task, the grade 2's re-visited the Social Studies lesson from yesterday. I placed pictures on the board of the Mi'kmaq's, Acadian's, British, boats, the Atlantic ocean and war. I asked the class to place the pictures in the correct order, and explain each event. This went quite well. Each student was asked to write about the Mi'kmaq/Acadian (French who came to Nova-Scotia)/British in their Meteghan book, and their part in Nova-Scotia's history.

After lunch and big recess (which was spent in the gym for the soccer intra-murals for most), grade 1's and 2's had music with Mme Dominique.

When they returned to the classroom, we had our Daily 5 (Read to self/read to a partner/writers workshop/listen to a story). I then introduced the Ipads to the class.

Today, we used Seesaw with the Ipad's to take a video to correctly describe what is unfolding in front of us. Grade 1's were asked to follow the action words model from this morning: _______ name He/She is action with different name in place. This is encouraging them to practice the skill of using the classroom vocabulary properly in a given situation, and to describe using words they know what they see.

Grade 2's were placed in groups. One student was asked to give instructions to their fellow team mates, which they needed to follow.
