This morning students wrote: "Bring your library books tomorrow." Please encourage your child to pack their library books in their backpacks tonight or tomorrow morning!
We participated to our weekly assembly.
Since today was "bring a stuffy day" we had a good class discussion about how to behave with our stuffy's.
Students worked to find the combo sounds in our French morning message.
We received new words of the week, that are regularly found in French books: pour, dit, mon, ma, suis. We discussed how if t's are found at the end of a word in French, they are silent. If there is a vowel following that T it is no longer silent; e.g. violet/violette.
The class read a book that used our new French words.
Grade 1 students did some writing about the person they built last week. Grade 2's continued to write about their monster.
After small recess, we took the time to listen to our friends present their stuffy!
Grade 1's completed an evaluation for naming the number that is one more, two more, one less, two less than a given number. Following this, they were each given a designated number, and asked to find all the different combinations of numbers that could create their given number, using chips.
Grade 2's discussed the way that living in a certain community can help to shape one's identity.
The class completed their first anti-bullying lesson. We talked about what bullying is, how it affects us. Afterwards, each student was given a hand with a name written on the palm. They were challenged to write 5 kind things about that person on each finger. This lesson had the goal to encourage the class to be positive and encouraging with one another. Tomorrow they will share it.
Students enjoyed music with Mme Domnique
This afternoon the grade 1's enjoyed gym with Mme Harding, during which time the grade 2's used their science hot and cold vocabulary to make a flip booklet. They then drew the different ways that a room can be cooled and heated. Unfortunately we did not have time to talk about the little visit they paid to the furnace room a few weeks ago.
When the grade 1's returned, we completed a round of read to self
We had a discussion about our lunch time monitors problem.
We ended the day with writing about our skills.
