This morning students wrote: "We have library tomorrow." In their agendas. Don't forget those books!

Today students participated to our weekly Monday morning assembly. The subject of following HRTS on the bus was discussed. We were also reminded that even though we don't take the bus daily, everybody takes the bus for field trips.

Once back in the classroom, students finished writing in their agendas and then moved onto our calendar message. The message allowed the grade 1's to practice recognizing words that match a picture in French.

Following this, grade 2's did their weekly French spelling words work. During which time the grade 1's were asked to read one of their friend's cauldron writing, and find the matching picture.

After small recess, we had our classroom discussion about rumors. We talked about what a rumor is-"Making something up about someone that isn't true", and how to deal with rumors: tell that person that you don't believe what they are saying, tell them the way it makes you feel, and tell them it is not okay to spread rumors. We then transitioned into talking about lice, and what it is, and especially how to prevent it: staying in your personal space. Hopefully this conversation will encourage the class to keep their hands and bodies to self even more!

Grade 2's then finished their weekly French spelling words work.

Grade 1's learned about using ten grids, and how they can make counting and adding easier. They specifically practiced making numbers that are one more, two more, one less, two less.

Grade 2's began practicing the location of specific objects based on a compass rose.

Students enjoyed music with Mme Dominique.

This afternoon, the grade 2 students were asked what they thought we could use to warm up our classroom/cool our classroom. They were then introduced to our spelling words of the week: dark, night, scream, monster, scary.

When the grade 1's returned from gym we practiced reading to partner. We then read our afternoon message, which encouraged us to skip the word.

We ended the day learning about how our classroom is like a family. (During this time, the grade 2's were pulled out to check out the furnace!!)
