Our agenda message today is 'Practice English Sight Words'.

This morning, students worked on creating their own farm. They colored and decorated a barn, adding a variety of different animals inside. This will be the inspiration for their writing tomorrow.

Upon their return to the class, students completed their personal timelines. We wrote up until our birth. The class also enjoyed a discussion to find out why it's important to know about your family history.

Students enjoyed music with Mme Dominique.

Upon their return, they got some wiggles out with Daily Physical Activity, we took a picture for our 25th anniversary time capsule, and finally we helped a little boy think of all the strategies he could use to solve a simple math problem. We then practiced our own strategy of making 10 with 9 or 11. (9+7 can become 10+6 and 11+7 could be 10+8).

This afternoon the class completed their Daily 5. They then went to the library to exchange their books.

Once we returned to our classroom, we began our poetry unit. I decided to launch this unit by teaching the children to use all their senses, plus their hearts and minds and imaginations, to take in the details of their lives in fresh ways. We looked at a variety of classroom objects, and the class was invited to marvel at the mysteries of these objects (books cups, lights, the fan, plant, boxes), we looked at them in poets eyes.
