We had a class discussion regarding the fires in Fort McMurray, and the needs that the community has. We then brainstormed ways to stop fires, which led into their writing...
This morning, students learned that they can write independently in French using the word wall, the dictionary and all of the knowledge that they have acquired in Grade One. We used this new knowledge to write about rain, why we like the rain, and what we like to do when it rains.
After small recess, students returned to class, and we discussed all of the changes from the past that my mamie had told them. Students questioned whether the changes were good or bad for the community. They then thought of things that might change from now until when they are grown up. To change our thought directions, I asked the question: "What can you learn about yourself with the help of your grand-parents?" and this is what will lead our Social Studies Family History project that we will start tomorrow.
Students enjoyed music with Mme Dominique.
In math, we revisited two our addition and subtraction strategies: using doubles, and counting on.
This afternoon, the class had library with Mme Lina and continued to work on their special Mother's day gifts.
