This morning your child wrote: "Thanksgiving mass tomorrow at 9:30." All families are welcome to join us at Holy Family Parish tomorrow morning! Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for walking to the church.

First thing today, Grade 1 students were tested on Sight Words, and Grade 2 students were in the gymnasium for physical education with Mme Harding.

Grade 1 students were asked to find the French combo sounds in their dictionaries, and we discussed as a class that finding the combo sounds before reading helps us to read better, especially in French. Following this, your child was evaluated on their knowledge of classroom objects (their oral comprehension).

When Grade 2's arrived, we completed our morning message, and went through calendar time.

The class enjoyed music with Mme Dominique.

After small recess, Grade 1's were asked to complete a page in their new math unit book, following this, they were to cut out their new French number flashcards, which they used to play a simple match up game. These will be sent home later in the week.

Grade 2's were asked to create their own growing pattern again, using monster eyes! It seems that we finally understand, so please praise your child when they show you their monster tonight! Grade 2's also followed directions in a number growing pattern.

The class then continued to work in their printing books, completing the letters e and u.

Afterwards, we returned to the writing we had begun on Monday, Grade 1's continued to work in their number books, grade 2's continued to write about a place in our community.

This afternoon, we read to self.... It was the quietest round of read to self we have ever had! We found our sounds in the afternoon message.

The class reviewed our writers workshop mini-lesson, reviewing that authors can never finish a piece in one sitting... that they need a lot of time.

We discussed our participation to mass tomorrow, reviewing the expectations when entering the church, what to do, how to behave etc.

We ended our day with 10 minutes of "extra recess" as the class filled their "parlons Français" bucket.
