Wednesday May 31st 2017
This morning students wrote: "Triathlon tomorrow. Reading log due tomorrow." in their agendas.
While the grade 2's were away for gym, grade 1's enjoyed looking at the St. Albert gazette from Wednesday May 24th. They had fun seeing how some people from St. Albert's past are now being honored by having their names selected as potential new street names. We talked about how these people whose names were selected contributed to the city, and how one day maybe their last name will be selected if they contribute to the city, by volunteering and other things. Grade 1's then added another event to their timelines.
When the grade 2's returned, the class completed a round of French Daily 5, decoded the morning message and participated to calendar time. We also selected what kind of ice cream and toppings we want for Friday's reading log prize.
After little recess and snack, grade 1's practiced flipping the equation using fact family houses, while grades two's used coins to solve equations. Students were asked... if you have 99 cents, and you want to buy a 65 cent teddy bear and 16 cent car and 6 cent candy, could you pay for it?
While grade 1's were away for their time in gym, grade 2's learned about insect life cycles, and each stage an insect goes through before becoming an adult.
This afternoon, after Daily 5, grade 1's/2's continued to work on their English Best Writing EVERRRRRR!!!
They ended their day in Music with Mme Dominique.
