Our agenda message today was 'Bring a shape to school tomorrow'. This is so that your child can learn to identify shapes within an object, whether it's a teddy bear, with a sphere shaped head, or a truck with a cylinder body.
While grade 2 students enjoyed gym, grade 1 students were tested on their sight words, and presented their personal timelines to their classmates, explaining how these changes have truly affected their family over time. We then began to discuss traditions, and how they are meant to remind us of events/people/things of the past.
When the grade 2's returned, we decoded our morning message (about the lockdown drill today), we talked about what a lockdown is, and what we must do, then one of our grade 2 students led us through calendar time.
Then the class enjoyed practicing their French play.
After little recess and snack, students learned what a diagram is... Something that represents information. We only used the diagram to represent yes or no answers. Then students used diagrams to describe shapes. Making a diagram for all the shapes that have corners or other portions.
Then we played with 3-D shapes, and described them with specific characteristics.
Students participated to a lock down drill
We learned about the Eucharist, and decoded the meaning behind the our Father.
After lunch, big recess and daily 5, students worked on making their Father's Day gift plans (they will make the good copy tomorrow.)
They ended their day in music with Mme Dominique
