Today was a very different day! First thing this morning, your child entered the classroom for absences, and then walked directly to Holy Family Parish. Your child was wonderfully respectful and quiet during the mass, and they were especially interested in Father Maurice's lively sermon. Ask them about it tonight! Thank you to our two mom's who came to help keep the class nice and calm and respectful for the mass.
Once we returned to school, students had recess, which helped to remove the wiggles.
After recess and snack, students wrote: "Picture day is tomorrow" in their agendas! Don't forget to get all fancied up!
Afterwards, we had a nice class discussion about the mass, especially regarding things that the Father mentioned... We discussed that arrogant people who think they're smart, and beautiful need to remember to be thankful for the Lord who gave us this gift. We talked about gifts God gave each of us.
Following this, the Grade 2 students worked on their printing book; specifically the letters f and s
Grade 1's learnt to play memory and match up with their numbers up to 20 flashcards they cut out yesterday. (written with words and numbers). They then completed a subitizing (recognizing numbers at a glance) activity in their math booklets.
Grade 2's began working in a math patterns notebook... reviewing patterns with attributes and growing patterns.
This afternoon, we read about St. Francis of Assisi, as his feast day was on Tuesday. The class then read to self!! Tomorrow we will be learning how to properly read to a partner!!
Students enjoyed gym with Mme Harding.
We ended our day learning about editing, and how every author wants to make sure their story is as awesome as it can be before giving it to some else. Grade 1 students went back and edited, grade 2's added to their plans and began writing their stories.
One of our grade one mom's came and read "The little old lady who wasn't afraid of anything" to the class for Read-In week! What a fun book to read! Thank you!
