This morning students wrote: "No school tomorrow!" in their agenda

The class worked well in completing a round of French Daily 5, decoding the morning message and completing calendar time. Then the grade 1's started to work on finding all of the combo sounds in their year end play: "Les trois petits cochons".

Grade 2's defined traditions as something that people do to remind them of the people from the past. We talked again about Lusia Pavlychenko, an important person who encouraged the tradition of Ukrainian dancing in Saskatoon by creating a dance company. We also learned about Savella Stechishin who arrived in Canada at 9 years old, and later in life decided to start a museum that would expose traditional Ukrainian clothing, agricultural tools, musical instruments and many other things. We concluded that these people who lived in the community contributed to the change and current life in the community, they also allowed Saskatoon's Ukrainians to be strengthened by their stories, traditions and events of the past.

After little recess and snack grade 1 students played some addition and subtraction games, practicing strategies such as doubles, doubles plus/minus 1, make ten and others. While grade 2's practiced subtraction strategies.

We then split ourselves in groups and discussed how we would water our school garden at the end of the day, making sure to look for certain things, like flooding.

After lunch, big recess and daily 5, students worked on their animal research writing project... Then they began to make part 1 of their Father's Day gift!

We ended our day outside for Daily Physical Activity and Sciences (watering the garden.)
