This morning students wrote: "Last day to get new books at library tomorrow." in their agendas. Students brought home their jellyfish art projects today, as well as some writing books they have worked on throughout the year (Some may not be finished and can be finished at home.)

Students participated to the morning assembly, followed by partnered reading with grade 5 students and Daily Physical Activity with Mme Harding-Kuriger.

When the students returned to class, we had time to decode our morning message, complete calendar time and decide who would be planting what part of the garden.

After little recess and snack, grade 1 students worked on making a farm scenery that they will write about in French later this week, while grade 2's learned about Saskatoon's past, reviewing that the first nations were already here, and when the settlers arrived (Brittish, German, Ukrainians) and decide to make their home there; because the soil was good, the first nations chief White Cap told them where they could build their houses. Then we discussed how the Settlers are the ones that built the community into what it is today.

The class enjoyed time in Music with Mme Dominique.

After lunch and big recess, students went outside and had fun planting corn, tomatoes, carrots and cucumbers in the garden with the help of Grade 4 students (thank you parents who came and lend an extra hand). Students also de-wormed our worm composting soil.

When we came back inside, the class completed a round of daily 5, and then we began to talk about what really great writing has: spaces between words, good printing, capital letters, periods, ideas are written well and detailed, juicy words and your writing makes sense.

Students started to work on their plan for their writing assignment.
