This morning students wrote: "Happy Mother's day!" in their agendas.
Throughout the day, we finished our volunteer tea presentation!
Students completed a round of French Daily 5, decoded the morning message and participated to calendar time. Grade 1's added a new page to the dictionnaries-animals! They found and highlighted combo sounds, then they used their new page to write a sentence following a model. They needed to describe the animal, describe the action they were doing and where.
Grade 2's learned about the Ukrainian and Saskatchewan flags, they especially learned the significance of the colors.
After little recess and snack, grade 1's finished learning about St. Albert's past-that all the events tied together created a diverse community, they brought home their timelines. Grade 2's began re-telling a French story beginning in their own words as practice for next week's writing evaluation.
In religion, we re-viewed the story of Jesus visiting Martha and Mary, and had a great discussion.
After lunch, big recess and daily 5, students worked on their final mother's day gift, and listened to a mother's day book, which reminded them that loving actions mean more than gifts.
