This morning, grade 1 students wrote: "Practice counting up to 20 in French." A reminder to look at my Math Grade 1 page, for games to help at home.

*Grade 1 students were tested on sight words this morning! Great work everyone!

Grade 2 students went to gym with Mme Harding. When they returned around 9:35 they wrote: "Practice counting up to 100 in French." Please take a look at my Math Grade 2 page, for games to help at home... I especially suggest the 100 grid games, as the counting, and the numbers are not in order, forcing the grade 2's to practice recognizing those larger numbers-please encourage your child to say the name of the number in French before they uncover it.

*Grade 2 students brought home their math books, and math evaluations today. If you have any questions or concerns about their evaluation, please let me know.

While the grade 2's were gone to gym, the grade 1's re-visited fall, we talked about how, although it looks like winter, it is still fall, because, just like how we have birthdays, fall also does... Grade 1's then completed a fall evaluation!

When the Grade 2's returned to the classroom, we read our morning message, which initiated us having a sharing circle of what we did over the Thanksgiving weekend! I am so happy to hear that everyone was able to see some family!

We then finished our calendar time, and read a Thanksgiving/Halloween mash-up book.

After small recess, the class did a round of quiet read to self in French.

In mathematics, grade 2's were launched into numbers up to 100 unit. Both the grade 1's and 2's participated to a subitizing (recognize at a glance) activity. They were encouraged to look at a group of objects and identify the quantity. Students then completed a numbers page in their math booklets.

In Social Studies, we re-visited all of the fun things there are to do in St. Albert. We also added animals we can see in St. Albert.

This afternoon, students were introduced to read to self. They had the opportunity to practice the expectations: sitting Elbow Elbow, Knee Knee, reading quietly, sharing the book, and checking for understanding.

Grade 2's received their spelling words for this week, please keep in mind parents that most of the practicing will happen in the classroom throughout the week.

Grade 1's began writing about an animal, ensuring to write using color words, and adjectives.

The class ended the day in music with Mme Dominique.
