This morning students wrote: "Have an awesome weekend!" in their agendas.
Once our agenda was complete, the class was introduced to our very special speaking French team challenge-anytime I hear a student speak French, I will place an object in a large box. Once the box is full the class may choose a prize (extra recess, a sour soother, a Robert Munsch short film, extra brain breaks etc.). Hopefully this will increase the amount of French spoken in the classroom! As the year goes on, the objects that go in the box get smaller and smaller (meaning reaching the prize is harder and harder).
For calendar time we read a message about what we were going to do with our Friday. Students also shared their fun plans.
After calendar time, the class completed some writing about the fall drawing they completed yesterday.
Little recess came and went, and your child completed an evaluation to verify their understanding of patterns with attributes (G2's) or patterns with a particular code (G1's)
Once that was completed, your child practiced the final two bounce letters: b and p in their printing books, hopefully you are noticing an improvement in the quality of their writing.
We then started on our Pete the Cat art project. Using their oil pastels, each students drew the outline of their Pete the cat as well as the background.
After lunch, the class did a round of read to self, and then we painted our Pete's.
Around 3pm the school had a Fire drill, and I was very impressed with how quiet the class was.
When we returned in the classroom we cleaned our paint mess up, earned our speaking French prize, and read a story!
Have an awesome weekend!
