Good afternoon!
Our agenda message started off with a nice "Read book bag books" This is a gentle reminder that when you encourage your child to read you at least one book a night-using various reading strategies, along with practicing sight words, they will be able to attain the targeted level for our first report card: a C! If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact me!
We did our last Halloween evaluation, and students exceeded my expectations!
Students enjoyed music with Mme Dominique
We worked on our throwing techniques in the gym, throwing with a bean bag, discussing that you want your weight on your back foot, and when you throw, you shift that weight to the front! We practiced throwing our bean bags at a stationary target and a moving target (a ball!).
Our number of the day was 15! Students enjoyed playing a game with double colored chips, and they got to see all the number combinations they could make to create 15.
Students read to self, and we re-visited three ways to read a book. Mlle was mean and covered the pictures, and students understood that the pictures are there to help us understand the story. We also talked about the third way to read the book which is retelling the story. This is important as it gives us an opportunity to check to see if we really understood the story, we need to think first, reflect and then retell!
We finished off our day with a poppy art project, students needed to glue tissue paper to the poppy, it looks pretty good!
That's all!
Until tomorrow!
